Laggan film review :-
Theme of post colonialism :
On 15th August , I watched the movie Lagaan: Once upon a time in India at our department . India is straining under the rule of the evil British Empire . The local village quickly forms a cricket team, the British team is defeated, and the local village's crashing tax burden is reduced for the next several years . The movie also paid a strong message about Equality of castes, an issue that continues to plague Indian. It is great to watch postcolonial people talking pride in their culture and history even if it means playing up stereo types and formulaic plot lines . We can see that how cricket, the once proud cultural form of Colonial Britain , is subverted in such a way that it becomes a tool for decolonisation . During the whole movie we finds this quality in the people. The protagonist of the movie, Bhuvan who shows great courage for the welfare of the province and motivates other villagers to come up and rebel against the Britishers. The characters of Lakha, Deva, Arjan and Ram Singh who has worked for the Britishers but after realizing that they merely exploits them and joins the Bhuvan's group. Even women helps a lot in this rebel. Altogether they all vigorously works to get rid of from the high taxes.
We can openly finds the caste system in the village. Which prevails even today in the rural India. In a movie we finds in the character of Kachra, He considered as a untouchable by the other villagers. Most of them denies to play with him.
