Cultural Studies: workshop by Kalyani Vallath

                  Workshop on Cultural Studies

   ◆ About the cultural studies:-

Ma'am says that Interdisciplinary study is the cultural studies part. And she write about How culture relates to the larger society ? Political dynamics of mass media and everyday cultural practices and How culture transforms individual experiences, social realities and power relations
Draws on social theory, philosophy, history, linguistics, media and so on. That's is my understanding during this session and I learn how it will be different for person to person or individually.

●Example, Kerala and Gujarat has different cultures and it's own importance.

How would you explain a layman about the Cultural studies?

One simple, example is the the gender performance. Yes, she says that how genders are performed individual and group. Kalyani ma'am says, 'cultural study is individual experience.' so, it's equally important for layman and rich person. I think political dynamics of mass Media and everyday cultural practice. My point of view a layman has own identity, Cultural programme, society, rules, marriage, religion, education and so on. So, I explained according to my opinions and understanding.

If you are asked in interview to teach cultural studies, how would you introduce it?

● One person says, "I am not like you, I am different."
That type of ideas shows person's own culture. And it's different according to people's thoughts, knowledge, environment, language, religion, nation, narration of literature and it's acceptance etc. So, I think individually

Cultural studies is like historical -foundations and it's not depend on any particular areas or classes.  Cultural study is individual experience and this is not for any celebration, function and on any specific activity related but it's our everyday experience of our life.

How many examples from the session were so catchy that you will never forget?

Kalyani ma'am is one of the best independent woman. She has entrepreneurship and she thinks different ways rather than typical woman. She is one of the best example of 21th centuries women empowerment. I really like her perspectives for looking towards different ideas os living own life.
●"Small things everyday make a difference"
●"I am not like you , I am different."
●How advertisement through people doing encoding and decoding.

                    Thank you!
